ZeldaFiles.com was never the only late-night fansite. Some of that GeoCities Zelda 64 circuit is still sitting in the archives. Mine, in one important case, is not.
One of the many Zelda sites that inspired me as a kid. Cape Canaveral on GeoCities, Ocarina of Time tips and secrets, screenshots, the whole 1999 Zelda 64 circuit. I still remember it. Credit Garrett (The Sage of Light).
It is a worthy link, so here it is, as the archive kept it:
The Millenia of Zelda — GeoCities Cape Canaveral / Station / 6908
From 1998. Lots of content, but the best pages are Top Secrets and Hidden Items. Credit Mattspeed.
Everything Zelda 64 — GeoCities Times Square / Dome / 2012
From 1999/2000. Lots of detailed content on different parts of the game. Credit Cyber Predator.
Cyber Predator’s Zelda64 Collection — GeoCities Area 51 / Chamber / 1301
Our affiliate. Twenty-six years ago. We put their button on the homepage
in May 2000 and they put ours on theirs, which in 1999 was legally binding,
or at least it felt like it. Webmaster was Zoom (Philip). The site was
Zelda 64 Heaven, on Gamewar, later zeldaheaven.com.
The live copy is gone. Wayback still has it.

The original WHOIS was 1999. That’s when this domain went live. I was 12. I have not found a public WHOIS dump from that first registration (current WHOIS is the 2026 re-buy; the paid archives I can see start around 2007, after the name had already dropped).
Alexa’s first crawl is 20 May 2000. That is not a 1999 start date — they showed up late, and they showed up in the middle of a redesign. What they caught was the fourth layout, by Mike Cooney. The original 1999 homepage did not look like that. It looked a lot more like the frames-and-GIFs thing on the front door of this revival. Staff posting as Mike / Mark / James. I was GTWY.
That May 2000 week they were still spinning the new layout up. Layout saga. Broken UBB. “Sections aren’t up yet.” Mark’s Banjo-Kazooie page got dropped for Zelda. Poll: Are you getting Zelda VI?
Fall 2000–01 the homepage shrinks. By 2004 it is a Searchport / NetVisibility parked search portal. “This domain is not for sale.” Last capture April 2005. Then silence, until tonight.
17 May 2000, Mike: News, Forums, Fan Center and Staff were up. Send art or fiction to [email protected].
12 May 2000, Mark: fourth major layout, “webpage design extraordinaire, Michael Cooney.”

I remember BlueMoon. Nsider name BlueMoon007. He built a Banjo-Kazooie fansite on GeoCities, Times Square / Maze, including a whole page about the Ice Key. That site is still in the archive. Both the front door and the Ice Key page.
I had a Banjo-Kazooie page too, and an Ice Key page. I cannot find either of them on any Wayback Machine. His survived. Mine did not.
The pictures on his Ice Key page are the part I remember most clearly. I had captured Banjo-Kazooie screens with a video capture card and put them on my site. He took those pictures and used them on his. I called him out for it at the time. That was a long time ago.
I wonder if he is still out there. I wonder if he remembers me. I would love to talk to him again after all these years.
If you are BlueMoon: the domain is back. Sign the guestbook. You can yell at me about the pictures then, or we can just talk.
